What is Fiber Optic Pigtail and How Does it Work?


Fiber optic pigtails are fiber optic cables with connectors at both ends. They are used in fiber-optic networks to connect optical transceivers or optical fibers to equipment.

These are available in a wide range of different types and designs. Fiber optics have been used for many years in communication, but it is only in the last few years that they have become popular with hobbyists and DIY enthusiasts.

The purpose of connecting the cable to the transceiver is to make sure that the light which enters the cable stays inside and gets transmitted along with the original data.
