The concept of manufacturing processes should also be examined in more detail before we continue to deal with sheet metal processing and sheet metal processing and the associated manufacturing processes. In manufacturing technology, the term manufacturing process refers to all the manufacturing techniques that are used to manufacture solid bodies, so-called workpieces, with a fixed geometric definition. 


There have been countless products made of sheet metal for a long time. Thanks to modern manufacturing techniques, these can be made in different sizes, thicknesses, and shapes. Among other things, such products are divided into construction, ship, automobile, boiler, and metal forming plates.


A large number of manufacturing processes are classified under the term sheet metal processing. It essentially describes the manufacture of products, components, and assemblies made of metal. Sheet metal forming is also included. Numerous processes are used to create different products, including:

Depending on individual requirements, it is possible to produce both soft and resistant sheets. Different alloys are used for this.


There are numerous elements that can be added to the liquefied steel. They determine the respective material properties of the respective sheet metal. Silicon, nickel, chromium, titanium, copper, niobium, and molybdenum are among the commonly used components.


Sheets made of different types of steel and aluminum as well as other metals can be manufactured in metal processing. They are in turn available in different alloys. Certain standards were defined and material numbers introduced for the categorization of the individual sheet metal objects.
